Rep. Yoder Announces 2014 Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Yoder is now accepting entries for the 2014 Congressional Art Competition from all interested high school students in the 3rd Congressional District in Kansas. Each Spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent across the nation, from each Congressional district. The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to recognize the artistic talents of high school students in their districts. Since then, more than 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

“I am once again excited to announce we are accepting entries for the 2014 Congressional Art Competition. The quality of art submitted last year was outstanding, and I look forward to seeing the art submitted for the competition this year,” stated Congressman Yoder.

Students should submit entries to Rep. Yoder’s Overland Park District Office located at 7325 W. 79th St. The deadline for submitting artwork is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 4th. An Arts Advisory Committee comprised of 3rd District artists will help to select a winning entry, which is then displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC. Art work entered in the contest may be up to 28 inches by 28 inches (including the frame) and may be up to 4 inches in depth. The art work may be
