Rep. Yoder Announces 3rd District Congressional Art Competition Artwork on Display

Overland Park, KS – Congressman Kevin Yoder today announced that student artwork submitted for the 3rd District 2013 Congressional Art Competition is now on display in the Roeland Park Gallery at Roeland Park City Hall.

“We have some of the best student artists in our schools, and I’m glad we can show off their work through May 3rd at Roeland Park City Hall, and of course the winner in the U.S. Capitol in Washington. I want to thank the City of Roeland Park and their Commissioner of Art, George Schlegel, for their assistance with this year’s competition,” stated Congressman Yoder. “Additionally, please stop by the Roeland Park Gallery, view the students’ art, and vote for your favorite.”

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of the high school students in their districts. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition. The winning student art will hang in the U.S. Capitol with the winning art selected from all Congressional Districts across the country from June 2013 through June 2014.
