Rep. Yoder Applauds Court Ruling to Block Administration’s Executive Amnesty

Overland Park, KS – Yesterday, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit issued a 2-1 ruling denying the Obama Administration’s appeal in a suit against its controversial executive action on immigration. The lawsuit, brought by 26 states including Kansas, aims to block the controversial executive action halting deportation of and granting work permits to about five million illegal immigrants. Representative Kevin Yoder (R-KS) issued the following statement in response to the ruling:

“The Fifth Circuit affirmed today what almost every serious constitutional scholar agrees, that the Administration’s unilateral action granting amnesty to more than five million illegal immigrants goes beyond the scope of presidential powers. With this court ruling, it’s time for the Administration to drop its attempts to circumvent the Constitution, enforce all of our immigration laws, and ensure our borders are completely secure.”
